Here are my 3 lovely ladies.Started them in March in a greenhouse.I am not sure of the type(sativa or indica)These were from shwaggy smoke. 1 of them is from some more expensive stuff though. It turned out primo last year.Check my pics.If you look closely you can see white hairs in the closeup.

Yeah,I am not worried about it being crappy because all 3 are females.(KEY)
I had 2 females last year that were excellent.
Just a question, does anyone have an idea as to when they will be ready? I can tell by looking, but this is only my second outdoor grow.Did starting them in march have anything to do with anything?
I also was wondering when anyone harvests. When the hairs are halfway turned orange/red on the plant? A quarter of the way? Or say,80% turned orange/red or whatever color?
Here is last years grow.

your not gonna be able to tell by the hairs, thats not an indication they are done.
go get yourself a jewelers eye magnifier for like 10$, and take a look at the trichomes (the chrystals on the leafs) themselves, when the heads turn cloudy they will have an uppity stone, and when they turn amber they will have a couchlock stone, a mix of the two is preferred.

Hey,
Take a magnifying glass and observe the trichomes (the mushroom like pins on leaves/buds). When half of them have turned amber and rest are cloudy white/clear it should be approximately at peak THC level, or so I have heard. Basiclly the more amber headed trichomes means more stoney and more cloudywhite/clear headed trichomes more high like.
Maybe someone will want to clear that up, but I think it goes like that! ------------------

maybe a jewelry store... hobby stores, and hardware stores also carry them. you could probably just use a magnifying glass for it, personally i use the tip lense from a gun scope to check trichs.

Hey,
I usually use 7x glass for overall check and then if closer inspection is needed have 30x one for that (which is not at all as handy as a normal magnifying glass).
My 30x was bought from philatelist fair, so thats one more place to find them from (philatelical shops that is). I have seen opticians (help with the correct english word for spectacle selling store??) sell them also.
I'm a bit at loss of [correct] words here, hehe

According to Ed Rosenthal (I think that's right) outdoor plants tend to mature bottom up like a lager and indoor top down like an ale. Have you guys seen this to be true?

With my limited experience I've noted that indoor plants mature bottom up aswell.. Might not be true in all cases but I haven't seen the opposite really.
