 The right poppies?

Say, hypothetically, you have a species of poppy and youve harvested and refined a few - is there any way of telling if they actually contain active ingredients? And are there any ineffective species of poppy that are toxic and/or will be horrendous to use?

The US government has already bankrupt social security, messed up medicaid and is drowning in corruption on all levels.
