 UPDATE: CPS took my neighbor's kid

Wow!! I just got the most awesome news!! Apparently When my neighbor's urine showed positive for marijuana, they did not bother testing the baby right away, but sent off for a meconium drug test (Baby's first poop, which contains everything ingested throughout the entire pregnancy). Because the mother admitted to having a joint, they took her baby. They assumed that the meconium would test positive, but did not wait for the results.
It turns out that the baby's meconium was completely clean! They are giving her back to them today!! They took and kept in a foster home a child who had no traceable damage EVER done to it.
I am urging them to press charges for kidnapping, and sue the fuck outta CPS. At least then it would gain some press coverage hopefully, and bring attention to the fact that CPS is removing children from their families, often placing them in dangerous foster homes, unjustly.

This is one story that seems to have a happy ending!

CPS is fucking bullshit a lot of the times. They get performance reviews based on how many kids they take away from their parents. I've heard hellish stories much worse than this just for people having a different(legal, opinion on a issue... CPS needs major reform. Good for your neighbors though. I'm glad they got their own child back.
I would definitely press charges if I were them.

Consider taking your concerns regarding this case to the ACLU (american civil liberties union) and see if they would help you with your case, it seems to be a clear violation of her civil liberties, and and the ACLU is a charitable organization.
