Question regarding spore prints

Alright, so lately its been humid as hell and extremely rainy in my area, as such looking around in my backyard I noticed a lot of mushrooms, and amongst them quite a bit of variation. I'm a complete noob with regards to almost everything mushroom related but am really interested by it - as such here is the question. I was wondering with regards to spore prints (Working on making some I.D's) if the cap is inverted ( a U shape as opposed to n shape) should the cap be placed upside down on the paper? The same way as normal? Does it even matter?
Thanks .

If the cap is inverted it will still make a print the same way.

Just remember that the spores are being formed on the surfaces of the gills. So you want to place the gill side down do that the spore powder will accumulate on the paper.
Happy mushrooming!

Yea , The one that has caught my attention isn't like anything i've seen in my backyard so i'm kind of excited. It looks more like flower petals made of mushroom if that makes any sense what so ever :P. I'll post the I.D's tomorrow and edit the sporeprints in hopefully later in the day =D.

In the process! , in terms of using a jar for sporeprints...does it need to be a glass jar? or just anything to cover the piece of cap?

jar for spore prints? I've never heard of that. Method i know about is placing cap on clean tinfoil then folding it over after print is made. but this is for the purpose of making spore syringe. So, i'd venture to say that any jar would work, but if you're going to try and scrape the spores off to make a syringe or for any reason (microscope inspection/chemical test), glass is best because you wont scrape any plastic/anyother material when you scrape at spores

Ah, i'd read somewhere to use a jar to like maintain humidity or something? :S. Using some cups to cover the mushrooms right now, uploading pics as we speak, prints underway..turning out really nice so far, got a clean brown and a charcoal colour from two of them within a few minutes. Others are still coming along =D...unfortunately the really cool flower like mushroom i'd seen yesterday got eaten and was all mangled as well as another bigger one . There was however practically a brand new colony of kinda interesting looking ones so I got some pics and such of those...i'll be posting the I.D. thread in a bit, just uploading pics off my camera =D
