Mexico is one of the places of the world that you could find all .i make i wild guees, the mayority of species of mushrooms not only psilocybe but from all , i guees after my 10 year looking , hunting and learning i came to the conclucion the mexican territory has only been study 30 % so we have the rest 70% to find many new things, we have many climates, microclime and vegetation, elevation from sea level to 4800 meters above sea level , than make tropical area, sub tropical, temperate and alpine areas places for diferent mushrooms to explote . diferent vegetation and types of earth and minerals, if you add the antique culture of use of mushrooms and tradictional knoleghe , there are more hidding thing that the ones that are know , that is Mexico mysterius, big and Magical. here the people from the mountains farmer and indias , pray to the lord for a good rainy season , for a good seasom of mushrooms and vegetables, here a kid can learn to enjoy the most gourment food, in the cold house by a wood fire, with his tortillas , why we should need more than the morning sun and the wind blow , can you ask for more when you have all, can you learn to valorate nature, Yes that some part of Mexico , the part i love most to live free in la sierra.that`s my goal
this thread is to pass this felling to you , to make laugh, cry, fell, even hear the spirits of mushrooms , life is mysterius , life is the vehicle to understanding .

Cool cactu, great start to the thread. So many beautiful photos. If your season is just starting and you've already given us so many brilliant photos, I can't wait to see what you'll be finding in the coming weeks. Mexico is amazing.

Thank you, cactu, for a wonderful thread.

You manage to weave such rich context into your threads, this is why I enjoy them so much... how can you beat hunting with mushroom eating guerrilla fighters on or near a volcano!!!! Takes the Cake!!!! And of course all your great imagery. We are finding some of the same things here in Kansas right now interestingly enough.
I have two guesses.... hartweg or montezuma pine?

mushroom eating guerrilla fighters on or near an extinct volcano
Nevado de Colima is extinct however 5 km away there is the most active volcano in Mexico, Volcán de Colima. Mexican government cleared out the nearest town because they say there is too much danger of eruption. The people didn't want to leave and the army turned part of the town into a base to try and force them out. So instead of a town full of people there are a few people on the edges and a bunch of army people all over, I am not sure how that is any safer.
I bet the guerrilla fighters have some strong opinions about the situation.
