Millions of people are eligible for a settlement in a class-action lawsuit against Trans Union, who sold lists containing personal and financial consumer information to third parties for marketing purposes. This is different from the other recent credit card class action, which was related to inflated currency conversion fees. You're included if you had an open credit account or an open line of credit from a credit grantor (including, for instance automobile loans, bank credit cards, department store credit cards, other retail store credit cards, finance company loans, mortgage loans, and student loans) located in the United States anytime from January 1, 1987 to May 28, 2008. Under the terms of the proposed settlement, you can sign up to receive a) six months of credit monitoring, and the choice to pursue a possible cash payment or independent litigation b) nine months of credit monitoring or c) six months of credit monitoring and the possibility of a cash payment. To receive benefits you must register by September 24, 2008. You can sign up at https://www.listclassaction.com/.

I'd go with option C. But I wonder how much of a cash payment they are talking about?

I don't know about this specific class action, but with respect to "the other recent credit card class action, which was related to inflated currency conversion fees" - I received a generic settlement of $25.

how do i become a class representitive, seems like they get an unfair share
also i think offering services from a company that has problems following privacy laws is a bit wrong

I'll bet the Canadian Transunion counterpart has done it too, heard anything related?
