 Friend needs help with possesion charge ASAP

So my friend was just arrested after a vehicle search in which they found 2 unmarked pills which tested positive for meth...They were apparently sold as adderall but we found out immediately afterwards that this source is known to give people otc drugs as adderall... so my question is, what drugs give a false positive for meth? they were round white pills with only a dash on one side, so they did not appear to be Rx.

if they're using reagents to test the pills then there's a great
deal that could pass for meth, have your lawyer demand a GC/MS
assay be done, the pills could simply be OTC pseudoephedrine

Sounds like the ephedrine pills sold as mini-2-way in gas stations, and I believe they will give a false positive for meth with those field tests, the charges will be dropped after the lab report is faxed to the SA stating their is no controlled substance in the otc pills.

the charge could change, it could be something along the lines of
not keeping a pill in it's original container

I think the pills are probably ephedrine. Since there were no numbers, only a slash on the side its unlikely to be a prescription. Ephedrine will often field test positive for meth because they are nearly the same molecule, meth lacks a hydroxy group.
If you run the field test for meth on everything in your kitchen, a lot of stuff will test positive.
Since these charges will probably be dropped pretty early on, maybe your friend can make a deal with a lawyer where if the lawyer doesn't actually have to do any work then he doesn't have to pay the full retainer.
