 question regarding dip stick drug tests

hey everyone. about a month ago i ahd to report for probation and i gave myself about 2 weeks to clear any pot out of my system. i have a really fast metabolism and never needed much more than that. anyway, i took my test and the guy who administered it did the usual routine with the dipstick then told me to dump the specimen. he then said 'alright' and i left. a week or so later i called my p.o. on an unrelated note and she said "werent you refered to drug treatment?" i had no idea what she was talking about, and to be honest she admitted she didnt either. she just said she remembered my name coming up and thought that it was about my drug test being positive. this threw me into a demension of paranoia i hadnt experienced in years. anyway, my question is this - i was under the impression that if the test was failed they then sent the rest of the urine sample to the lab for analysis. i was told to dump my sample. is it possible they could have sent the actual dipstick to the lab? im quite certain they would need the unadultered liquid sample, and wouldnt be able to test urine already absorbed into the test. like i said, she really wasnt sure what she was talking about to begin with, but it would set my mind at ease to know for sure whether or not the dipstick could be analyzed via gc/ms

in theory they could use the stick. In practice no, I'm aware of no such practice and doubt it exists.
I'd say your fine. While there is no set rule that they have to give you confirmation, the results probably won't be legally useful if they are not confirmed. Most important thing is to deny smoking.
But if your probation department has the authority to "recomend" shit, and the judge ordered you to follow their recomendations, its kind of a moot point.
Hopefully you don't have to go through with the waste of time and money that is court-ordered drug treatment. I can find no data as to their effectivness, which is surprising given the PR orgy that is the "drug court" bullshit.
Compelling people to listen to bullshit doesn't work.

thanks for the input. the real fucked up part is that i attend alcoholics anonymous almost daily. ive known i had an alcohol problem for the past 7 years (i mean constant drinking all day, every day) and now i have a bit over 6 months clean. for probation to force me into an outpatient drug program (of which i am absolutely NO stranger) would be counter productive since between work and aa i have little free time, and will therefore have to cut back on meetings. i find it completely ridiculous that the one legal drug virtually ruined my life, while the demonic, outlawed marijuana is deemed a problem. this whole thing is completely backwards but they'll never listen so i wont waste time arguing
