E Mailing Federal Prisoners?????

I just got an email from a family member of a friend who is in federal prison about his e mail. He is fairly new there so he is getting established, it is going to cost him 15 cents per e mail he sends out & 5 cents a min for computer time....they are paying him 12 cents an hour to cut the grass & work in the greenhouse.
I was wondering if the feds will look into who he writes to & what not? I don't do anything illegal these days so not that i would get into any trouble but just wondering.

I'm 99.99% sure they DO look through every letter that goes in and out.

Not for those filthy drug dealers. They get 12 cents AND hourly beatings. And yes, all mail is red through, in and out.

You don't have anything to worry about, your name will be added to a list in the inmates classification file, the list includes names of those that visit or communicate with that inmate. The list is only used if the inmate escapes, then everyones name that is on that list will be watched 24/7 by feds until the escapee is in custody again.
Mail is only visually scanned for certain words or drawings (maps), again you don't have anything to worry about unless you email the guy a map or that you'll be visiting him with a suitcase and he has to reach in your body cavity to retrieve it.
No worries.

Minimum wage laws do not extend to prisons.
I have a friend in Federal Prison too and he gets paid 12 cents an hour to tutor other inmates for their GED tests. But since he was arrested for crimes involving a computer, no email or computer time for him.
