 scent of MJ outdoors

Say, when does a plant start to give off any noticeable scent?
I remember when a friend grew some dope outside, his back yard reeked of it.... when can I expect it to start smelling?

Sometimes you can smell it a little in Veg but mostly when it starts flowering depending on what strain some are stronger smelling than others. If your worried about neighbors some people have good luck with carbon filters to get rid of the stink inside but outside you'd just need a stronger smelling different plant to overpower the MJ plants smell.

I'm not worried about anything, I have no neighbors or anybody that would trespass.
I was just curious if and when it would stink like my friends plant did.

Hey one more question... I have an Ion Generator, if I were to grow indoors, would that kill the smell?

I have 3 small negative ion generators in my closet. I chose to get 3 small ones because I could mount them on the walls. It works ok for my 72 cubic foot closet along with gels in the exhaust ducting and Neutra Air or Oust for the rare occasion that someone comes over unannounced. The best bet is a carbon filter though. Ion generators are not very practical in a larger grow.

Yeah, my bad... Guess I'm too stupid today to realize what I posted earlier!
Thanks ... I've got a commercial unit that was used for flood damage to homes, and it has variable settings up to 2000 square feet, I have it running now, and it smells like a lighting storm hit my basement. I picked it up for free, and figured it would help keep my mushroom area clean. But would work for pot huh?

Neg Ion Gens dont work for weed smell.
you need a carbon filter. you can make one for really cheap and use a bathroom exhaust fan with it.

They do work, to an extent. If I knew now what I wish I knew then, I would use a carbon filter. I will if I can ever find the time and cash to redo my closet.

The Ion Gen. I have has a pretty stong fan on it, could I use carbon filters on both intake and output sides? would that have any effect?

Well, the carbon filter is attached to the exhaust system. It really has nothing to do with the Ion generator. I think that is what you where asking.

Right, okay, So put the carbon filter on the exhaust of a fan that is drawing the air from your grow area right?

Yeah, I can smell the plant when I am close to it, but not from a distance. not really strong unless your close to the plant. She's becoming a beauty.
