Green mold made its appearance today... important question...

I spawned to a bulk substrate, everything was going well, I have fully grown mushrooms coming out of the casing layer... I noticed today that in one small area that green mold was growing, didn't notice any mold yesterday when I checked. I promptly picked the mushrooms that had a good distance from the mold area and then tossed the tray.
My question is, are the shrooms I picked, which showed no mold growth on them and were on the opposite side of the casing layer where the mold had formed, still consumable?

I would think so. Keep in mind though that trich is known to give some people allergic reactions and sensory irritations.
If you want to consumes them, just wash them first.

I've never been allergic to anything, so I reckon I'll keep 'em about.
cheers!

This thread was moved from Mushroom Cultivation.
Reason: They're fine to eat. Trich is not toxic to healthy humans anyway, even if you ate it directly. Good plan tossing out the tray though. You could also have buried it into a manure or compost pile outdoors and let it continue fruiting, if it's summer in your location. I'll move this to the appropriate forum. RR

How deep would you have to bury it in order for it to fruit? That is an excellent idea...

Near the surface. Cover with cardboard for a week or two to prevent drying out. Afterwards, mulch the area with straw. RR
