orange/red/brown discoloration at brf cake injection sites, NOW W/ PICS

well i had some brf and bulgur cake mix in the freezer and decided to knock up some jars to get rid of it. this was about 3 days ago.
i've got myc growth in the jars, however there is some brown/red/golden areas in the sub where the injection was made. i've always noticed some discoloration when using multispore into cake substrate, however this looks browner.
is this normal?
i plan to let them go to full colonization and then smell at birth, but just thought i'd ask and see if i can learn something.
i can get pics if need be.

I'm sorry to inform you but that does not look healthy one bit, smell the holes where you inoculated them and tell me what it smells like

the moisture content looks all messed up ...and the substrate is not all airy, seems to compact.
I would chuck em out, start again and skip the bulgar all together, just use brf

Horrible contamination. There is NOTHING GOOD that will come of trying to wait it out. Looks to be alaready 100% colonized by the contaminant.

ok, but what kind of contam do you guys think it is?
i have a reliable cycle of g2g cohorts going, and definately don't have to fruit these out. i was just trying to use up some old sub cake mix i had sitting in the freezer. however, i'm interersted to see how these will turn out.
as i said earlier, i've seen similar things in earlier cake jars. those turned out safe and nice. but, i've never seen 'stains' so large in my cakes. just trying to figure out what it is.
thanks guys

That is an ugly, ugly mold. Pressure cook those jars for an hour before messing around with cleaning them out. I'd be half tempted to just throw the whole works out to be honest.

I had some mold like that (and seventy catrillion other damned things that don't even freakin' exist).
The jars have sat outside exposed to sunlight for weeks. (Wearing disposable sterile gloves and a separate isolation mask I dumped 'em into the compost bin).
I haven't quite decided if I'm going to chuck the jars in the bin or soak 'em in bleach before PC-ing them (which is why they're still outside), but damn.
Those things are cheap, and it's canning season.
