well, i never rinse my grains (also) and have not had a problem.
i use coco coir as a substrate and a casing and haven't had a problem.
i don't add ANYTHING to the coir in order to avoid contaminates.
i scoop the grains out with a fork into the tub.
i've been getting four flushes. no contaminates.
any questions?

I only rinse prior to placing in the soak water, have you guys ever seen how filthy rye can be when bought in bulk?
When I said rinse, I only do it once at the very beginning of the prep, no need to rinse after the simmer, cools the rye off to much for the excess water to evaporate leaving it overly moist.
as Magash says, might just be a me thing though.

Well said RR. I think I speak for all the moderators when I say that this needless bickering and personal attacks will not be tolerated on any level. This seems to be a disturbing trend nowadays and will be dealt with harshly for repeat offenders.

Yes, you can use a perlite FC for fruiting casing trays. It helps to raise the cases off of the perlite, however, in order to let the perlite evaporate more moisture in to the air of the FC. If you are looking for cheap alternatives to that type of setup, then the Monotub is what you are looking for.

Hey Magash,
Awesome setup. I've been using the PF Tek for years, and have had some up and down results. I haven't ever had much of a contamination problem, but definitely mixed results on the flushes. Saw this and I've decided to upgrade, but was wondering if you could provide some more detail on the materials and procedures for setting up the incubators and fruiting chamber. I've been using the poor mans setup and am ready to upgrade, but I'm not overly familiar with what you're using, i.e. the vaporizer, heaters, size of tubs, etc. If you already have details on the site, could you provide a link as I've been looking but haven't found it.
