hmm so [-][-]icro$oft is watching everything?
    #8539631 - 06/19/08 04:07 AM (3 months, 20 days ago)

so apparently i now have a 3rd network card, but it isn't listed in device manager....

i can't disable it in network settings...

when i try to run my ps3 on my 2nd network card (which used to work), it wont and this also stops my 1st network card(internet) from working on my computer as well.  when i turn the ps3 off my internet works again..

this extra network card is called [-][-]icrosoft tv/video connection   spelled the proper way of course, i can only ponder what it could be possible transmitting.

and oh yes it is transmitting....it has an assigned IP address and when i turn on peergardian guess what happens?

blocks a similar ip address, and when i look up this ip address it is called IANA

oh and guess what big M has to say about this

wow so it doesn't do anything yet its magically installed on my computer...

anyways now i can't use my ps3 on the net :crankey:

It is Microsoft shoving more shit down your throat...

I suspect the x-box works just fine.  Maybe you should upgrade to another Microsoft product, yes?

Most people report that it gets installed with their webcam software.  A lot of people report that it corrupts other products, such as you with the ps3 problems, or deleting itunes playlists, etc.

I found this, which may help...

Same problem happened to me. My son got a digital blue usb
video cam for xmas and proceeded to install it on his own.
Unfortunately he plugged in the camera before installing
the software and the Microsoft TV/Video installed as well.
Without the correct driver from the software, ME guessed
and installed that one. Funny thing, his camera worked
fine, but that TV network driver killed his connection to
the net. I ended up having to unplug his camera, boot into
safe mode, uninstall the camera software, gointo device
manager and remove the Microsoft TV/Video driver, and
reboot. Then I installed the software and rebooted. Once
back up, plugged in his camera and everything works fine
now. Dont know if this is similar to your case, but
definitely something to try. Another funny thing, they
make these pc toys for kids, but dont make them real user
friendly. I constantly have to tweak his settings to get
the sound to work on the thing, lol.

What OS I highly doubt they watch everything it would be illegal, and the government would be pissed about it. On the other hand the government watches much of what you do for example...The Pentagon logs every search over the internet that has key words in it like "making bomb" etc, but the government can do it without much punishment while Microsoft would be sued. "Hackers" would have found out about it by now...Hell I could if I wanted. Get a packet sniffer, and see for yourself nothing is coming in or going out that shouldn't be. Its a glitch somewhere...Nothing more. Be worried more about the government watching these sites, and over what you search for.

Source?

And I wonder if it would be illegal for microsoft to monitor?  They'd probably just have to put some more bullshit in their shrinkwrap licenses (which should be struck down btw).

plus it wouldn't be illegal if the government regulated microsoft and made them put a backdoor in...this would be the only way they would gain remote video access to peoples desktop ( just assume its video being transmitted based on the name)

by the way the adaptor is gone now after a few reboots and tinkering, gone from view that is

Exactly, the government would have to give them the license. I do have sources where they log your searches Ill find, and post. I can't prove that Microsoft doesn't do this, but I'm a network Admin and I can sniff around and bet nothing goes in or out that shouldn't be...That is that Microsoft didnt put there. Ill get them.
