    #8530597 - 06/16/08 04:45 PM (3 months, 25 days ago)

Hi guys my pet camel harold appears to be growing some magic mushrooms of the pes amazonian variety.

he has a mycomate fast fungi kit and is in the fruiting stage of his grow.

he is new to this and was wondering if his cake is looking ok? pics below. advice appreciated.

They're blurry, too. Do you not have a macro function on your camera?

They're forming knots, they will get fuzzy too, as long as they stay that brilliant white color your fine.

Mist and fan regularly you should see pins in a few days.

I just picked my first flush 3 hours ago and they are drying and dunking now.

That looks like verm that the cake is sitting on, might have better results rolling the cake like previously stated.

After you risne the cake from the dunk, just roll it in a plate of DRY vermiculite, then place in your fruiting chamber and mist the cake until the verm layer around it is well saturated, not leakign off the cake, but well saturated. The myc will colonise through part of the verm layer and you will get larger harvests, larger fruits, and more flushes.

I would recommend making yourself a RR Style Shotgun FC, and letting your cake fruit in there instead of on that wet verm, if that is what it is, under your cake.

Other then that your cake looks great and it seems to be forming knots, so you know the hard part is over.

The cake looks great.

You don't have to roll it provided you dunk in between flushes.  Dunking will do the rest, especially with that strain.  The roll adds more pinning/fruiting sites, however I think the additional time waiting for it to colonize the outer casing isn't worth it (with cakes). For some strains/species perhaps it is.

The original instructions for that kit instruct rolling it in vermiculite (not the updated version).
I think it brings similiar (close enough) results when dunking without rolling.  If you live in the desert and/or have air conditioner and your air is extremely dry that the inside of your fruiting bag is drying out before you have time to mist it with water, then perhaps "rolling" is good technique.

I hate to knock the rolling tech but I have not found it to be of much additional benefit myself.

Hope it goes well!

It hold alot more moisture, and mushrooms love moisture.

The more moister and FAE, the better the results.

Anything I can do, to make them happier, more comfortable, and pleasant, so they can thrive.  I will do, even if it is hopping on one foot in my socks singing twinkle twinkle little star.

Roll em.
