Hi, first post for me in money matters

my questions are about silver/gold of low(er) purity

what i'm wondering is; how do you go about finding the market value of sterling silver and/or silver/gold of lower purity?

do you just calculate the gold/silver content, then factor in a refining premium?

and would it be a bad idea to go buy up all the cheap    silver/gold items in thrift stores & pawn shops if it factors out to be below spot price?

also, how easy would it be to sell, and what kind of places would buy that atuff for the value of the gold/silver content?

sorry for the newbie questions, im new at this

you wont find any at thrift store and pawn shops are never cheap. you might have alot of luck buying silverware in an antique mall.

If your serious about scrapping i suggest going to garage sales and Ur tip or surrounding tips and collect Brass,Copper,Electric motors, power cables (copper) no need to strip them, Gun metal and aluminium way better than scrapping silver and gold IMO.
