Oh yeah, it's really true, we are fucked. I havn't arrived at this conclusion lightly either; I was once a bright eyed optimist (for a short time anyway) and believed that somehow our 'indominable' human spirit and inspired innovation would subvert and eventually bring a full stop to our mad dash towards mass murder/suicide, but the shitty truth is--we don't want a happy ending bad enough. It seems that the majority of the world have been worn down and rendered ineffectual by the non-stop fatalistic decisions of those in positions of power and influence--the srong-willed dominating over those who are used to taking orders and direction from others. It's just like the theory of how if you're given enough steady doses of lies you'll eventually believe the perversion of truth. The same thing goes for a fatalistic message. The mass-media dominace over our lines of communication have ensured that real free-thinking and objectivism have been pushed back in favor of the 'elite' way of thinking. For whatever reasons, the upper echelon of society have lost sight and meaning of what it takes to sustain our existance for a long duration--having reached the top of their mountains, they have nowhere to go but down, and they are choosing to jump down instead of climb. This might be all good and well if it weren't for the fact that they will be dragging the larger part of society screaming down with them. While I havn't adopted this grim view for myself personally, I do recognize the hypnotic effect of this way of thinking and living, and just don't have the confidence in the enlightened minority to turn it all around. I hereby challenge someone to change my opinion and give me a reason to hope for a better tomorrow, 'cause the internet is cheaper than therepy.

Just because America is going down doesn't mean the world is going down. The people here decided that "making my own choices" meant acting like children or behaving in a totally random and/or uneducated manner, as opposed to listening to good advice.
Indeed I grow more optimistic as time progresses, for I can't wait to see the expression on everyone's face as the country collapses. Especially since I'm rather certain I'll be doing okay.
Hell I'll just as soon work for a Chinese as opposed to an American corporation. I hope you have fun calling Xing sir though. "Would you like some freedom fries with that?" MWAHAHAHA

One word: College. If need be I'll just as soon work for a Chinese company doing what they want as an American. Scratch that- I'd prefer a Chinese company since the people in China probably have manners. The People's Republic is the country that will be expanding into our land via in sourcing when the collapse occurs. I'll probably just make propaganda for them or something.

How incredibly naive. How exactly is your Bachelors degree going to distinguish you from the 75 million other people with diplomas and more advanced degrees in the U.S.? What are you going to do for food, shelter, warmth, or safety with that piece of paper after there are no jobs, no money, no government, and no security? Don't shoot! I have a B.S.!!! If the U.S. suffers a catastrophic economic collapse, the rest of the world is coming down too, buddy.. China too. You better hope you don't live in a city, and you know how to hunt.
