I'd be scared when they issue the national ID cards...
Exactly... It is my belief that this is only a precursor to the national I.D. card. Getting people used to coughing it up, or not being able to purchase anything. It is just downright unnecessary and terrifying to me. We didn't need it before, why now?
Well its obvious the national ID is the precursor to the RFID chip. Then we are truly there slaves!
Get a good fake ID.
Get RFID blocking wallets.
Cut out the chip and expatriate yourself at that point. My plan, at least.
My situational awareness always has me putting my backs to cameras and refusing ID when possible.

All I can figure is to make sure the ID had appropriate information stored on the magnetic strip. This means either a fake or a real ID. Its easy as hell to get an encoder for PVC ID cards, and not very expensive to get this added to a regular ID printer or just do it sepperatly, so its only to catch shitty cards.
As to the national ID, I'm opposed. I think it is just another symbolic step towards more national control, which isn't a decent reason in and of itself, but I don't like it.
Another thing is that I see it as unnecessary. Passports work fine. Other than that, we've got the full faith and credit clause and we should rely on that.
I just hope we don't come to a day where your required to carry ID. This seems abhorent to me, and bad for a free society. People should be able to travel freely. If someone needs to prove citezinship, they can present a passport or birth certificate and appropriate ID.
If the feds want to require security features on ID's for them to be accepted nationally, I suppose they can. But I see no reason for this to be forced on the states or a burden to someone going about normal buisness.

they scan the IDs to see if it's legit. most fake IDs dont have the barcode/magstripe info on back correctly. the information on your ID is the same information on the front of the ID, nothing more (with a few exceptions).
Seriously, this has been around for a long time, and it is nothing worry about...

these scanner things aren't really a threat, but they did prevent me from buying beer a while back. i went to the counter at the liquor store, dude scanned it, and told me my license was EXPIRED. the machine told him it was expired, not fake, yet he denied me service even though i'm fucking 27. i later found out that excise had been cracking down and if they happen to stop me outside the store with an expired license the store gets fined 1,000.
the part i don't get, is the fact that an expired license still shows a picture and a birthday. i was pretty sure all it meant was i wasn't supposed to be driving.
if their going to have a database to record those purchases i'm surprised they don't scan for every sudafed purchase. it sucks having to write down all your info when you have a terrible cold.

I'm pretty certain there is a 'save teh children' in here somewhere... oh yes, scan the ID to ensure that you are not a minor. I remember now, "We the people, in order to form a more perfect babysitter, do ask the government to protect our children from evil influence... blah blah blah"

with everything there is a legit use and a bullshit evil one. They get used for both, expect both. everything has a good cop label smacked on it, with a bad cop disclaimer in small print that has to be requested from an unnamed address.
as for storage space of your purchases, i think google alone has proved space is of no issue. all information is valueable, the more you have the better. which is why the average person in society has none.
