Small, Dried Out Looking Yellow-Brown Patches On Mycelium [PIC]
    #8489173 - 06/05/08 06:44 PM (4 years, 11 months ago)

Hey everyone. This is my first time growing. I made a bunch of BRF cakes (which went perfectly) and then used them to inoculate bins of coco coir. I was planning on casing them with vermiculite, but the mycelium started pinning before the coir seemed 100% colonized (not sure why, I kept it completely away from light).

Anyway, it seems to be doing okay in spite of that, except that one bin has developed these small, dried-out looking, yellow-brown patches on the mycelium itself. What do you guys think this is? Thanks in advance!

P.S. I found another thread where someone mentioned yellow staining being common for people who use coir; is that what this is? It's just odd, because only one of my bins has this.

If anyone has any idea what this stuff is it would be really, really helpful. I don't want to put it in the fruiting chamber with my other bins if it's contaminated, so it's not getting enough humidity and isn't doing too well. Here's another pic where you can see more of the stuff:

IM sorry buddy but your mycellium is suffering from a parasitic mold the mushrooms might still grow but they'll be toxic:(

You don't need to drill a lot of holes.  Some growers choose to fan several times per day instead.

I would say it looks like myc piss , but since its in multiple spots id say with confidence thats a contam. seperate it from anything else youve got goin and let it fruit. if it doesnt fruit=contams, if it does, set em aside then cut the casing open and see if its spread inside
