well mccain is once again pounding the dums of war trying to make us believe that iran is a grave threat the exact same way they did that to iraq
the truth is iran wants peace only and we want to "end our paranoia"
either thats the reason or mccain has stocks in the war machine and is tring to profit off another war
or he is just feeding off the republicans because that is what they want to hear and so the drums of war wins him votes
which one do you guys think it is?

As far as I'm concerned, your title of the thread is discussion enough. He is doing nothing but putting word's in Mad-dinejad's mouth.
He needs you to understand that when Israel decides to wipe Iran off the map, like it did to Lebanon oh so recently (yet out of the memory of the TV news watching meat), who's side YOU need to be on, unconditionally.
His "wreal world" pressures to 'peacefully' and 'decisively' end bring this situation to a 'close' are, in simple words 'blockades', acts of war.
A lack of violence is not the same as 'peace'. Deprivation of trade/aid by threat of force is Mc Kain's idea of peace, like most any other US president in the past decades (but now pimping in the Doublethink Express).

why do you think mccain wants to lie about what he is actually saying and he is implying that he is dangerous and wants to get rid of israel in violent means

I know you say you are in la La Land, I just have to take your word for it. You don't know anything about the Middle East, untill you read two new books by (Lawrence Freedman - Aaron David Miller )

The simple answer is fear. But there is also more. When pushed about his chickenhawk stance, he has repeated the phrase "It's policy in Iran to destroy israel" as though it isn't just the ramblings of Mad-Dinejad, but is a systemic sentiment of Iran on the whole. They need to make Americans think that the rest of the world operates like them, that since it was policy in America to talk of the evil of Iraq, and America followed up by it's obliteration, surely as A, then B.
All this talk about Iran's displeasure with Israel is A. Iran going ahead a destroying Israel is B. Propagandists grasping at straws.

You are very right! I lived in Iran, Afghanistan, Saudia Arabia. I have been to Turkey, U.A.E. , Oman, Jordan. I spent ten years in the Middle East and North Africa. I didn't think that you would take my word about knowing Iran, so I gave you two good books to read so you could find out for yourself.

In the meantime, can you give us a brief overview of how you feel it is there, generally? I'm very interested in the Fertile Crescent itself, as well as Southeast Asia, but I think it really sucks that some of the people there (in the Middle East) have to be so unenlightened. I'd love to go exploring there without the threat of getting my head chopped off because they are pissed off at the Danish for cartoons. When will they evolve a sense of humor? Is it the sand in the vagina? 
Seriously though, I'm not prejudice towards them or anyone else, and do not think in terms of generalities, and was simply having fun ad-libbing, but I certainly do have the sense that it just isn't one of the more friendly places to go exploring, especially if not in the role of the touring military (who would be to some degree shrouded from full exposure of the reality of as much).

Please give us the context in which you "lived" in these places, as your opinion of this place you "lived" in contrasts severely to the opinions of the many who I know and worked with who've immigrated from Iran within the last several years. Obama is going to be the next President anyways. The war in Iraq will draw to a close and hopefully a war with Iran will be avoided

When I was in the Air Force I worked for the State Dept. and was assigned to the American Embassy in Tehran. When I got out of the Air Force, I was in the Peace Corps in North and Central Africa. When I was in Iran it was during the Shah period, but have many friends who still live there. I talk to them quite often, along with other friends in the region. ..................... I don't think that you understand what intense religous indoctrination does to the psyche! While in Iran the people follow without question, but when they leave Iran for instance to the U.S., they love our freedom and opportunity, but they do not like our immoral behaviour. Many Iranians want the advantages of the West, but they have an extremely orthadox religous dictator.(a religous socialist state). When the Iranian mind isn't washed with religous rhetoric They are a friendly and intelligent group. ............................... There is a small but growing sub-culture of young adults that has started a sort of rave culture. Even with the No. Korea like security drugs are easy for them to find. The young have chosen MDMA, and they go "clubbing Iranian style". ..................... When I lived in Iran there wasn't much oppression, and it was a nice place to live. The problem was that their leaders were corrupt. Now they have a very oppressive and corrupt government, with very little freedom unless they walk the party line. And yes homosexuals are rounded up imprisoned and executed along with drug users as the most hated citizens. .......................................... I don't want a war with Iran, but the Islamic leadership have decided to take back Mesopotamia. The Shiite leaders in Iran want more power, and they want Iraq. The U.S. is not pushing for war, Iran is. .............................................. and yes Russia is helping Iran in this altercation, and if you do not understand this you are way behind the learning curve. So, what you are saying is............they all have to die? Either that or put them in chains. You can't simply give people who are motivated by such ideologies democracies, since they will, by your account, elect leaders promoting domination of Islam, and will always be a threat to you. Freedom is dangerous in the hands of such people. So either they ALL have to die, or we will always live in fear of that threat.
Also, what I gather from this, with all your talk of Iranian clubbing, and Iranian drugs, and Iranian psycho-religious leaders, and Iranian aggressive domination for society control...... is that Iran is more like America than ever.
