 can u grow truffles?

hey all, go head and criticize if u want lol.. this might be a stupid Q, but im kinda new to growing edibles, and cant find any info on growing these... unless i was in france it might be hard.. but i am curious to just know... 
is it possible to grow truffles in a controlled grow area? i know they grow under the ground.. and they use pigs to find them.. and that they do spread spores.. or would it be possible to mutate it to a mushroom that grows towards light, so it grows through the ground..? (even if it was, im aware that you'd have to know what u are doin :P )

apparently it's EXTREMELY difficult to grow your own truffles; scientists JUST did it in a lab, and even then it was the B-grade yellow variety, not black.
So I'd say no.

i really was just wondering, maybe for as a future project if it was on a reasonable difficulty level..

There are a bunch of decade to fifteen year old French truffle farms that have yet to see anything. Then again there is the guy in Tennessee that has seen success in seven years. One thing for sure, I wouldn't trust anyone purporting to be the "leader in the field".

I've heard of saplings inoculated with truffles before but i'm not sure about that. I do now that there are wild truffles in Oregon though you might want to look into that.
