Agar attempt; suspect syringes are contaminated

A while back I mentioned I'd gotten some syringes that I think are contaminated.
I was talked in to trying agar under the assumption that I'd be able to determine which was healthy myc and which was contaminant, cut a wedge of the healthy myc out and transplant it to new myc, and repeat as necessary until I had ONLY myc.
Okay, that sounded doable after I was talked into it. (It took some talking!)
I'm assuming this is a viable experiment? And assuming it is, and assuming I *do* have contaminated syringes, what do I do with the jar and the agar I cut the healthy myc out of? Put it in the trash? Pull out the rest of the agar and put it in the compost bin? Soak the mess in bleach water?
I started this *last night* and I already see some white in one of my jars, so I'm quite pleased.
Thanks in advance.

I recently got into doing agar work myself. Check out peroxide agar. Once you get a live culture going, you can transfer to peroxide agar and that should inhibit future contams growing. If you're going to use jars for agar i would just soak them in some bleach and clean them out. Just don't let the contams grow out to much and keep them away from the grow area. Think of getting some petris.
