Last time I went to church my phone went off twice within 10 minutes during the sermon. First it rang, so I turned it off, then my alarm was set, and it turns the phone back on when it goes off, so that was number two.

I was also sitting in the front row.

It really sucks when you can feel hundreds of religious kooks eyes staring at you.

It was like god was pointing me out that I shouldn't of been there.

What bothers me the most about church today, is the fact that if they believe in Jesus, they are guaranteed a place in heaven.

Their actions make little difference. A "good Christian" can sin to his hearts desire and still get into heaven.

:shake:

Bad Karma going on there.

Ted Bundy a saved man, in Heaven. Gandhi a non-believer, in hell. That about sums up my issues with the failed follower's of Christ. You know something interesting? Jesus said "so that ALL might have life" not "only those who believe in me". I think Jesus was awesome. he never said he was God by the way. His teachings were deep and full of amazing light and love. His followers, not so much.

Didn't Gandhi say "I like your Christ, but not your Christians. They are so unlike Christ"

Or something like that.

When I turned my back to all religions, when I was 12 years old, I had to go to my cousin's wedding.

In the church, the preacher told the people to rise, sit and kneel for prayers, as they always do and I was the only one not standing up, nor praying. My mom thus looked at me with pissed off eyes, saying:"You better stand up and do like everybody else", and I never understood why since she isn't even a religious woman, she just wanted the ceremony to be perfect for my cousin and his wife despite my religious views.

I just glared back to her, and simply said :"No. I am not a sheep following a pack and I don't like this "holy place". "

She was kinda shocked, but hey, what did you want her to do about it? She never bothered me with that again, except to not swear too loud when my grandma was around. Our swear words here are all based on the church and it pisses off the believers a lot to hear someone swear.

I've stated it before, but the anger and hatred towards Christians and religion in general is really odd to me. There's a LOT Of stuff I don't believe in or think is cool, but it doesn't bother me that it exists.

And I'm not going to buy the kindergarten argument that "religion" is the cause of all the wars and that we would be better off without it. Religion is just the vehicle that those who seek to control and harm others use to advance their cause. But if it wasn't religion, it would be race, or nationalism, or SOMETHING. What causes wars is the very same thing that leads many to make hateful comments and leads them to desire or find joy in hurting others, and that's the human condition.

I cannot speak for all religions, but Christianity is supposed to be about LOVE. Real love. So you all are correct when you reject a Christianity that hates and judges, but that's NOT Christianity.

I have a poster where a guy is asking Jesus to "Please from protect me from your followers" .

PS I'm not sure where you all meet these "Christians" at that think hitler is in heaven and Ghandi is in hell, but obviously that's not the case. By their fruits you will know them, NOT what they say or claim.

I see a lot of generalizations about Christians in this thread and I have made these assumptions as well.

I see you and boxcarguy are Christian and open minded, who seem to have an open hand extended and not pointing a finger in condescension.

I lived with a Christian family in Ohio and they were cool as hell, I told them I smoked weed and they said "we could care less" the mom and dad also said that if their kids ever saw me smoke or knew about me smoking they would "kick my ass" and yeah I kept that in mind and they never knew.
What's funny is they forbid me from drinking alcohol in their house but didn't care about weed.

Christians can be cool just depends on who ya know:yinyang:

The thesis that I want to advance today is that the drug war and the laws that prohibit the private consumption of certain drugs are unconstitutional. Prohibition laws, themselves, violate every tenet of limited government that is embodied in our Constitution.

I don't buy the whole "Jesus is God" bullshit. It goes against the teachings of the 10 commandments.

John 10:30 "I and the Father are one."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Not to derail the thread, but if you say jesus wasn't god, what he said was either megalomania or insanity, and that hardly makes his teachings beautiful.

Also, some faiths believe that Jesus and the holy spirit are all aspects of the same godhead. Choosing which testament to believe seems like a crap-shoot.

By praying to Jesus, rather than God, these people are perpetrating the biggest sin you could do.

My family is very religious, and always pray to Heavenly Father, meaning God. God and Jesus, in most churches, are seperate beings. The three members of the Godhead are God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit, and most churches accept these to be seperate entities. Praying to Jesus would be against most religions, but I don't believe many people actually do so.
Just figured I would let you know.

Actually, most churches accept the idea of the Trinity, which is, in part, the idea that Jesus was both fully human and fully God, in a way that is hard for us to understand. Separate, but at the same time One.

I don't know what you mean by saying "praying to Jesus would be against most religions", but most Christians I know pray directly to Jesus, because they see Jesus as God.
Just to clarify.
