I can't seem to make my guitar play thru my computer.. I plugged it in to the microphone jack.. but it won't play thru!
Is it cuz of Vista? Anyone play thru their computer?

are you running a line straight from your guitar?
you may need to boost the signal through an amp.
guitar to amp, line out from amp to computer.
i haven't done this, but it's my attempt at problem solving.

My cousin had a mini tube amp that plugged in through usb port to his computer, but it should work plugging directly into the mic port I would think. You got a adapter or something. Have you tried the line in port? Checked microphone volume and stuff?

You want to use the Line in port. Don't expect great sound though.
A M-Box (By DigiDesign) is highly favorable however.)
(Also, Don't quote me on it, haven't used Vista, let alone any version of Winblows in years.)

Boost the signal.. you guys mean like, plug into an amplifier and then plug that into my computer...??
My roommate has an M-Box but it only works for XP SP2 apparently. Vista BLOWSS....

exactly. and, as Gainer stated, try the line in port as opposed to the mic port.

I got it to work, sort of. I can hear what I play after it's recorded, but I can't get playback to work 
I want to hear my tone before I play lol...
Maybe it's the program.
