I was in middle school when I played it, but was still quite addicted. I hate all these new MMOs that let you level like 1-30 in a day or two. Makes me miss the EQ grind, it made you feel like you truly accomplished something :lol:

I dunno if I miss the grind, but I miss the old days of EQ pvp for sure. Being able to gank people's gear after you killed them was the shit, and listening to them bitch afterwards was even more fun.

That's true. I can't wait to see how PVP is on AOC. Hopefully you'll be able to at least loot money from player corpses.

you can't, but if it makes you feel better you can attack anyone anywhere(other than cities)

ffa pvp is pretty kick ass

the combat system in AoC, is fucking INCREDIBLE.

It blows cancelled my acct after a few days. Someone described it as a console hack n slash and i agree. If i bought it for the 360 it would probably be fun but it blows for the pc.


Imagine being funneled around zones forced to quest in total ffa pvp. You either go to where everyones pvping to lvl or you dont lvl which is pretty lame after you die the 40th or so time.

So too much going on in too little space? I don't mind having to watch my back (or form a team and rape and pillage) but if it's too crowded to do anything that sounds pretty lame.

Basically you can't gain experience in peace without getting attacked every time you're working on a monster? Are the PvP and PvE fighting strategies similar?

Well, there is another server that is culture pvp, which is pretty much race wars. But I think that guy is complaining about the zone being too small because he never leveled passed 20 therefore he never left the island of Tortage, which is a tutorial area.

it opens up after the first 20 levels. the world isn't seemless like WoW, but it's got pretty huge zones nonetheless.

The FFA PvP servers are an absolute bitch to level up on, but they should be interesting once everyone reaches 80.

37 pvp is who can bunny hop while stunning the most or if your a caster just spam that shit.

I played in beta for a little while... I really like the design of the game but the PvP just feels a little... "kringly"? What exactly does "kringly" mean? You know the difference between the jerky movements of a kindergartener-manipulated marionette and the fluid motion of a professional ballet dancer? Well that's the difference between this game's combat engine and a good combat engine. There is very little fluidity, visual queues for attack vectors don't match up well, the combo system seems more like of a burden than boon, and the defense system is all but impossible to control in real-time.

That being said, there is some fun to the game. I can't imagine how frustrating PVP might be, but PVE makes for a decent diversion. The game has a lot of potential though, I just think the combat system needs to be reworked and much more refined before it can come close to that potential.

It's a good raw model, but I doubt it will hold my interest for very long. I'll just stick to my old standards. If Darkfall EVER comes out, that will be awesome.. but I'm not holding my breath too much.

The racewars server would definitely be my kinda thing (coming from Everquest PVP servers) but it sounds like I'd just try to get into it and get frustrated with problems like these quoted above.
