 Got conned into going to church last Sunday

A friend of mine got kicked out of his house on Thursday and came to stay with me and my wife.
He is a very religious man, and wanted me to go to church with him. He didn't want to go alone and without his family.
So I agreed to go with him.
Bad idea.
I'm still having bad vibes from the experience.

Was it really that bad? I always seem to enjoy going, even with all the religious BS. It never hurts to have a good dose of ideology as long as you take it as a grain of salt.

I always felt out of place at church. (was only in one a few times) They have an eerie glow to them and I don't feel like I belong, which I clearly don't because I'm an atheist. If someone even mentions the word church I'll go apeshit, let alone GO . Thanks for takin one for the team!

A former atheist and former oxy addict friend went into a church felt the Holy Ghost and is now a devout Christian, he was an atheist on the same level as orgoneconclusion.

I can totally relate.
A few years back my friend invited me to a Super Bowl party with a bunch of his other friends and family. I'm like "Oh cool, bunch of people, good food, I'm down".
As soon as I got there he started introducing me to his church group. I felt so betrayed.
There wasn't a beer in sight and to top off the awkwardness we all held hands and said a prayer during half-time.
Shit was fucked up

I wont go to church again. I seem to find the more cult like types of Christian churches. Every time i go i get the willies like i am trying to be brainwashed.
The last church i went to told me to never come back unless i wear a pants. I was wearing dress shorts and dress shoes. It was like 100 degrees outside that day. they fired their minister a few months later for something he thought of doing, but didn't do 15 years before he even came to this state.
The one before had the last youth ministers fired for child molestation. The one after that got fired for burning books and other non religious things. That church is a bunch of money grubbing bastards. that minister has a 200k house and drives 3 different caddies.
The one before that had 6 armed men come and hold us hostage for 2 hours so we could feel what it was like to be apart of a religion that was persecuted. I was kick out of that church because i refused to cut my hair off.
The last church that was Christian tried to get me to go. I was going to until i heard they all held snakes while praying for god to give them faith.
There was one church that would have healing ceremonies every Sunday. The whole congregation would get up and all put their hands on someone who was sick and cover them in oil and pray for god to heal cancer and whatnot.
Look i believe in god, but I'm not stupid. churches are fucked up. I don't care how many free donuts you give me, I'm not going.

One time I got suckered into Jehovah's Witness Bible studies. I liked a girl who was Jehovah's Witness and it just kinda happened. It wasn't terrible, per se, but thank God I got out of going to Mass.
