Finally saw them live Sunday night and boy did it kick some ass. Never seen anything like it actually. The first minute of the show Cedric jumps into the crowd runs over to where I was standing and picks up a plastic trash can and throws it into the crowd, grabs this guy's water and drinks some and spits it everywhere and then runs up into the 2nd deck, comes back and starts singing the first song.
And may I add that Thomas Pridgen is the SICKEST drummer I have ever seen. This guy absolutely shredded all night long. I've never seen anything like it.
And then the highlight of the show for me was when Cedric was dancing and shit and then he runs over to his "area" of the stage and starts fucking with a theremin. It was mindblowing.
Here's a clip from the show, doesn't really so much, but it was fucking loud and my ears rang for a good day afterwards:

Hehe, never heard of shredding on drums.
But Mars Volta is the band I've been listening to for the last week or so. The more I listen, the more I like. Favorite so far is Inertiatic Esp, I just love the intro, and the song itself, so good.

mmm.. live mars volta..
they did three shows at the wiltern in one month, and i went to all three. this was right before frances the mute came out, and they played an acoustic version of "the widow" that makes the album version look like a fucking retarded baby.
i was so damn disappointed with the final version of that song, having seen it in its infancy. it was so new that cedric had to look at his notes to remember the lyrics.
i have it bootlegged somewhere... maybe i can upload it if i find it.

While I haven't seen Pridgen live, I can't deny the fact that he's fucking awesome (a point I tried to make in the last Mars Volta thread before everyone jumped on my back.)
I'd like to see him either with The Mars Volta or Christan Scott.

I saw The Mars Volta in i think september of last year at festival hall in melb and actually got a chance to meet Cedric before the show 
He was just standing down a side alley next to the venue while all the other suckers were lining up lol. The only reason i got to meet him was actually because my friend and i decided to blaze up before the show.
