Near death experience

Quote:
The death toll from last week's earthquake in south-west China has risen to 40,075, officials have said.
Tens of thousands more are still missing, and hopes are fading of finding many people still alive.
However, Chinese media say a woman was pulled from the rubble 195 hours - or eight days - after the disaster.
It was the second rescue on Tuesday. Earlier, a man was pulled alive from the remains of a power plant after being buried for 179 hours, local media said. Rescuers fed him sweetened water through a tube.
Tomorrow will be the happiest day of these peoples lives. Their breakfast will taste better than any meal you and I have ever tasted.
People that come close to death like the example above must have completely different views on life once they recover. They would see everything in a different perspective.

Very true. I almost wish I could have that perspective, but that means I would have to suffer through 170 hours of thinking I am dead and probably in horrible pain.
-------------------- Since the product sold by organized religion was demonstrably not of the same quality as the one offered by the shamans, and came at a higher cost, the competition could not be open and free but came down to a process of elimination, carried out by means of a systematic campaign of murder, torture and deception. The result of this work, begun centuries ago and continuing to the present day in the guise of the 'drug' prohibition, has been the effective denial of unmediated access to the spiritual aspect of our existence.

That is pretty much the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I realize that you're quoting fight club and what you're trying to say, but It's preposterous to use it in this context.

I'd prefer to have a near Life experience. You don't die, you stay alive. Really alive.

it doesnt work the same way because there is the sorrow of those that were lost. im sure anyone in the area has family or a friend that passed. in the movie hes gets a forceful kick in the ass without any carry-on sorrow.

Sorrow seems like a wasted emotion to me, catalyzed by fear. When i die there better be a motha fuckin' celebration in my name. No tears, long silences, or gloomy faces...

There's no way their breakfast would taste great... they're probably all tired and fucked up still. They are probably eating shitty hospital food too.
I had a near death experience and it didn't really change anything

Sorry for calling your post the stupidest thing I've ever heard. When I first read it, it made me mad, but looking back I can see that I was a bit over the line.
I just dont feel that anyone can have the best day of their life after a natural disaster. People have lost family members and friends, homes and livelihoods. I'm sure that in time survivors will feel theyve gained or learned something from the experience, but in the immediate aftermath all I can see is mourning, hopelessness, etc.
In the movie Fight Club, the convenience store cashier was forced to confront death and revive his dreams, but he did not have his whole life torn apart like the survivors of the earthquake. Notice that all the members of project mayhem voluntarily gave up their former lives and voluntarily underwent tyler durden's initiation and rules.

I think from the time they've fasted down there and amount of alone time they had, probably got a lot of thinking done and tomorrow will feel mentally better than they ever have, if that's what you meant.
