Adirondack state park
    #8420128 - 05/19/08 01:51 PM

I saw a pretty awesome documentary last night on PBS about the culture and people living in Adirondack state park in NE New York. I am seriously considering moving there. Has anyone here ever lived there? Or gone there even? Any opinions at all would be greatly appreciated.

That documentary is really good if you happen to catch it.

Yeah mercury is dangerous and evil shit for sure. They did say though that its getting better. Its crazy though for the water to be poisoned at the Hudson's source considering how long and important that river is.

I used to work at a Boy Scout camp near Saranac Lake. Going there and to Lake Placid on our free Sundays was always a blast, as was being on the camp grounds. I actually really miss that, it's too bad the pay was extremely unreasonable.

I've been there it's unbelievable, it's so vast it takes your breath away. I spent time camping and fishing on an Island where we had to be flown in by float plane. I spent an entire day and the only wildlife I saw (aside from the fish we caught for dinner) was a single loon!

I love the place!
