man...I hate people so much. If that happened to me, I would of just fucking lost it, I would jump behind the counter and beat the shit out of the fucker and shove his face under one of those coffee machines and run burning hot coffee on his face for 10 minutes.

So when you looked in the cup you could see spit? Are you sure this wasn't some other liquid like caramel or a vanilla syrup? I work in a small coffee shop, not starbucks, and I would have to really go out of my way to spit in someones cup.

hi, thanks for all of the responses. you guys are right he should have sued. i guess its just akward for him, and i just let him make the call about what to do for his sake. should have saved it, but its the kind of thing you just throw away reflexively. also there is this big machine that they fix it behind...and a high counter so you basically cant see anything. It was definately a loogie, no question--just frickin disgusting thing to do. I worked at many coffee houses before and i know my stuff.
we actually both complained to the corp/management as a reasonable alternative, but the corp. people basically did jack but offer us some free stuff (declined) and apologized for a 'below-standard' drink. lol. wont ever be going there anymore.
seriously tho, there is something kinda weird about starbucks in that they are such a huge corporation and basically caffeinating almost the whole nations's workforce with super-high potent coffee. I heard they have coffee like 7 times stronger than all others. the stuff is not good for people...but great for corporate industrialism and productivity perhaps. its ind of opportunistic drug dealing...and then there are all the secret society symbols on their logo and walls... just a tad shady.
we were just using coffee a tad while working on a big publishing project with a cut-off date. but I will really never go there, and never eat at fast food or restaurants anyways. i guess you just never know who youre dealing with and cant really trust people with coffee and your food...this goes like 100x more if you are a person of color of any kind, asian, or in any way unusual. you just have to understand how some people are hateful and sneaky and deceptive about it and how they abound in these service industries.
Ive been talking to various people who work or worked at starbucks and they tell me it happens all the time. from what you order to the mood of the person fixing it, to ordering too close before closing, hard time hearing you at the drivethru, you speak too loud at the drivethru, idiots just messing around, racism...the reasons are endless..but it just comes down to the quality of the people working those kinds of jobs, including the younger people these days.
Be careful and watch your backs (foods) :p

really, I heard it is about 350 or more mg per cup, but maybe those are the espresso drinks and frappes? and if you are quoting starbucks figures out of their brochure then that may not really be true. I heard this about independent testing of their products.
thats true, it can be any such place, but in general that is not the trend with these kinds of workers especially in the cities. maybe you work in a rich neighborhood, i dunno.

thats really weird, the training manual i just had a read said 120mg was about standard for their "tall" size, but online it says its around 325, thats their website that says that...
also my manager told me several times the frozen drinks had the most caffine, now i check online and the starbucks website says they're frozen drinks are within a normal cup of coffee range.
their largest cup of regular coffee has over 500mg caffine?! thats fucking nuts, wouldn't two of those be pretty bad for you?
yeah i don't know. i'm not a fan of big companies on principle, but starbucks has always been pretty decent to me up in the NY area.

yeah i worked at one at my university too...comes down to the individual people as well tho..i will never trust fast food or places like that because of the associated risks, generally dirtiness, unhealthiness, and percentage of untrustworthy people working minimum wage. much better to make your own food/coffee etc.
