Codeine falls under Schedule II, III, IV and V groups depending on the preparation.

In some states you can actually buy 4oz bottles of Robotussin AC (I think it's AC) containing small amounts of codeine from the pharmacy without prescription.
It all depends on the dosage and what it's mixed with in the preparation. That's what determines what schedule catagory it falls under.
