Gullibillity is the different side of the same coin as curiosity

It's just a side effect of the inquisitive jumping to conclusions. Sure, it's embarrassing to think 2+2=5, but that same mechanism of imitation is how we learn.

temporary suspension of disbelief is very liberating.
you get to try on some things that you never thought might fit.

I think of gullibility as a lack of curiosity. When one is truly curious, one continues to investigate rather than accepting things at face value.

If people stopped looking on their emotions as ethereal, almost inhuman processes, and realistically viewed them as being largely composed of perceptions, thoughts, evaluations, and internalized sentences, they would find it quite possible to work calmly and concertedly at changing them.

Like I said, the two are very closely related. Like exercise and rest. You can't exercise all the time without deleterious effects, and you can't be curious all the time, without being an annoying prick/going mad.

Sometimes once you put it on, you like it so much that it is no longer temporary. You can get stuck in a whole new mental outfit.
