Its pretty good but if i were you i'd take out that center explosion thing over the tree. kinda looks outa place and has sharp edges. Maybe add more symbols or characters kinda fading in from the background.
what program are you using? and what methods? just layering and blending methods? Its a really cool start.

you might be able to work in the orange and yellow glows if you dull them a bit and make their shape responsive to the tree.
the pink and sharp edges, chinese writing just look like garbage

I see the ideas you're trying to get at, but I think you're doing it so directly that it ceases to be artful.
If I were you, I'd find the common denominator between the symbols and the image, and work around that.

I think it's great. It captures all that I find to symbolize a mushroom trip, and a lovely one at that.
in terms of pure aesthetics, like has been said, finding a way to make the symbolism and "effects" blend in with the main picture a bit more would "smooth" out the flow, and I think there's a lot of promise here.

On the right is the hunab ku - mayan symbol for something like a star's or galaxy's central superconsciousness.
On the top left in chinese is 'dimension' - and the other symbol is jing(high tone) which means spirit, refined or energy and is my favourite chinese word - if you add the word liquid to the word jing it means semen or if you add the word 'god energy' - 'shen' to jing then it means vitality, - interesting no ?
It was really just a reminder of some stuff to meditate on although I do intend to play with it and make other versions

You can say what you want without actually saying it if you get my drift. I understand what you're trying to get across but it's too literal. Put something in there that represents what you're trying to represent if that makes sense.

it would be alot better if you scrapped photoshop and got some oil pastels. not that photoshop can't be used artistically, using it for something like this seems like using CG animation to give someone a different hairdo in a movie.
