Obama Feared Bill Ayers Would Step on Flag Lapel Pin

(2008-05-05) — Sen. Barack Obama admitted today that he stopped wearing an American flag lapel pin out of fear that friend and domestic terror group founder William Ayers would “step on my chest.”
The revelation comes after a photo of Mr. Ayers standing on the flag resurfaced from a 2001 article in Chicago Magazine.
“This guy ran the Weather Underground which declared war on the U.S.,” said Sen. Obama, “Bill Ayers conducted a campaign of bombings and riots before he helped me launch my first political campaign. With a resume like that, I’m not about to taunt him by wearing a flag on my lapel. I’d hate to have to explain the footprint to my dry cleaner.”

Look, I'm no apologist for the weather underground, nor am I trying to defend Bill Ayers, and I feel like I am playing into the hands of McCain's spin doctors by even addressing the notion that Bill Ayers' character is a reflection of Obama's based on the fact that the both live in Chicago and aren't conservatives...BUT...This article by Murtagh you posted is the second glaringly false item posted in this thread.
Any bombing related to the Panther 21 was not enacted by the weather underground, which never targeted any people with bombings. Their campaign to make the Vietnam protest more visible and less acceptable only very briefly targeted building/statues in which people worked, and even then they stopped targeting buildings in which people worked after they accidentally blew up some of their own people in Greenwich in 1971. They never targeted homes, much less people. Ayers in particular was fond of blowing up statues that symbolized certain aspects of Imperialism, and as I have already pointed out Ayers turned himself into the authorities 6 years before the infamous 1981 bombing. So please stop the lies.
My source on this is all from the documentary film "The Weather Underground."
A quick look through google and I couldn't find any mention of the weather underground in relation to the panther 21. If you could link to something that does, that would be illuminating.

I never studied this stuff, figuring it was political spin, but based on your description above, sounds like Ayers really was a pretty nasty little terrorist wanna-be. I don't care if you are targeting people or not, when you bomb buildings, you risk killing people. When you bomb buildings, you are trying to get attention by means of terror which is the definition of a terrorist.
Does this terrorist weather underground stuff have anything to do with the weather releated web site wunderground.com and Dr. Jeff Masters?
