Shiver me timbers...

Recently i keep getting intense shivers up my spine, i've raised kundalini several times and i've never felt shivers, the shivers always seem to come when i read or hear something that penetrates right into my being. Like a flash of light/energy.
Just wondering if theres any scientific facts about shivers up the spine, or any spiritual theories regarding it? It feels like blocked energy shooting out, but not in an ecstatic kundalini way. Enjoyable but not ecstatic.
I like it, its just overwhelming, a total body spasm. I've found stopping and becoming aware of it stores the energy, not sure where its going but it definately feels good, kinda like becoming aware of a sneeze before it happens and enjoying the sneeze, instead of sneezing then saying "i sneezed"

Do you practice Kundalini Yoga? I've read about the Kundalini as a coiled snake, resting at the bottom of the spine. You musta done something to raise it. Cool!

Yeah kundalini yoga is awesome, but i infuse it with taoist microcosmic orbiting to keep it flowing all day long, not just bursts during meditation, im learning how to keep it moving as sometimes it gets blocked at a certain place then you can become over compassionate or too happy, or too sad, and believe me you can be too happy, especially while driving a car. Its like full on krishna dancing in ecstacy type energy.
I think maybe the shivers are unspent energy that has been blocked releasing when certain words relax me. It seems to be when i totally relax.
The human body is an amazing thing!

I've experienced this same powerful shiver up the spine whenever I hear a truly beautiful and moving piece of music, or see an epic movie scene that penetrates right to the core of my being. I've been using it as sort of objective measure to which I can rank art that I experience--if it gets shivers up my spine, it's truly good.
I've likewise wondered what's causing this... you're hypothesizing it's blocked energy?

I also get this exact same thing. I also get it whenever a powerful melody or passage strikes me. It's very strange.
