Safe to eat?
    #8409370 - 05/16/08 12:49 PM (4 months, 26 days ago)

The following is an entirely hypothetical scenario.

Knocked up jars.
Cased jars into two bins.
Casing 1 green....EVERYWHERE. Thrown out onto a compost pile.
Casing 2 begins to flush. Half way through small spots of green show up on sides of the bin where myc has pulled away.
Green spots are handled with Lysol and H2O2.
Flush finishes and case is inspected. Small green spots are coming back hard and fast.
Decision made...not worth further effort. Thrown out onto compost pile on opposite side of the yard.

One week later, after a nice downpour, casing 2 is flushing again. NICE, BIG fruits. Are they safe to eat? Would being outside have helped the myc win out in such a way?

Remember ENTIRELY HYPOTHETICAL. That or I'm a madman, or the biggest fucking liar on the planet. You choose....any which way...this never happened.

At last you know what the ineffable is and what ecstasy means. Ecstasy! The mind harks back to the origin of that word. For the Greeks ekstasis meant the flight of the soul from the body. Can you find a better word than that to describe the beshroomed state? In common parlance, among the many who have not experienced ecstasy, ecstasy is fun, and I am frequently asked why I do not reach for mushrooms every night. But ecstasy is not fun. Your very soul is seized and shaken until it tingles. After all, who will chose to feel undiluted awe, or to float through that door yonder into the Divine presence? - 1961 Wasson Botanical Museum Leaflets, 19: 137.

From what I've read so far (i'm no expert) FAE makes it difficult for green mold to take over.

Yes, they're safe to eat. Molds in the substrate have no effect on healthy mushrooms that may grow out of it.

ALL outdoor beds are 'contaminated'.
