Current Grow (bags in perlite fc) harvest PICS updated
    #8408516 - 05/16/08 07:53 AM (3 months, 21 days ago)

i use these black potting bags.

the substrate is grain spawn(chitwan) to 50/50 manure/straw.

incubate with them taped over.(this picture is actually reishi spawn but you get the idea)

and open them up to fruit.

notice how fruits are forming under the bag. it is hard to see in these pictures but there are many mushrooms emerging through the lower drainage holes.

these guys are just cased with straight verm. i prefer 50/50+ but i am currently out of peat.

___
there are tons of second flush pins waiting to burst up. i will try to pick the first flush without disturbing them.

___
i should of made the substrate deeper  i dont know why i didnt.

there she is. recommendations and criticism are highly appreciated.

P.S.
check these babies out

looking great!

especially the reishi, what substrate are you using for the reishi?

so you're colonizing the grain in jars then spawning to these bags?

alright... here's how it goes with the bags. it is so easy it isnt even worthy to be a tek

it all begins with a jar of spawn. here is a jar of pearl oyster on Wild Bird Seed.

for the cubensis grow above i germinated spores from a print i took of a isolated sub strain of chitwan, nepal p. cubensis. this has been one of my favorite cubensis. im not positive but i may of purchased it from spore works... it was about 3 years ago. i germinate in viles or on agar.

so i have my culture and i divided it up into jars of grain like the oyster jar above.

i next spawned my grain jars into 50/50 manure straw substrate using black plastic potting bags from the local hydro store.

.

here is a picture of reishi spawn. (grain spawn to eucalyptus chips)

all sterile work is done in a still air box. in a room that is filtered by a few different contraptions

spawning into the black bags is done outside with gloved or washed hands and rubbing alcohol.

i fold up the bags and let incubate for about a week.

then i rolled the sides down, cased with pasteurized vermiculite and threw them into the fruiting chamber.

HAHAHA, bro, that looks funny.

either thats a pint jar and you have little hands,

ORRRR

its a quart and you have huge hands, as well as GIGANTIC bird seed!

...when you say outside, please explain. cuz i was wanting to do my spawning in my greenhouse, but was advised not to

haha very funny. my hands arent that small
i mean yes, that is a quart jar biatch. i man handle those suckers like no ones business.

yeah man, i totally do it outside. sitting at my picnic table. i try to make it a fast and smooth transition. open the jar and dump it right into the bag. fold it over while i get ready to dump my manure/straw. pour in the substrate, mix it together from the outside of the bag with the top held shut... i have had no contamination problems while working outside(for the final spawn only).

thanks for stopping by

the reishi have been going for many weeks. i know i have the date some where but i will have to dig around for it.

they are still growing. the white ring has just about disappeared. i will most likely pick them in the next couple of days.

i just leave them be! i love being simple. i have always stressed over sterile procedure but that time is over. i want to get all my culture used to being outside.

i have a pot of aloe plants w/ some succulents and mushrooms all together. i will post pics soon : )

peaceee out
