just so everyone knows, joining the army does not mean you will be without a doubt killing people. if you have a combat arms job, the possibility is there. claiming that "youre going to be asked to kill people, you won't know why" is quite a stretch
but i do agree with all the rest saying to avoid the army

In my opinion, don't join for the schooling, money (laughable), or glamor.
Join if it's something you really want to do, knowing it will be tough sometimes, hellish other times, and boring sometimes.
Join if you don't mind being out in the bush without creature comforts, if you want to really push yourself.
Join if you want to serve your country, and don't give two shits about what the rest of everyone thinks.
Join if you want to see the absolute worst (and here and there some of the best) aspects of humanity, and if you feel you want to handle that for the rest of your life.
Warfare, sadly, is part of the human condition. It will fuck you up and you won't be the same after seeing people get smoked and seeing how things are outside the wire where little kids get smashed skulls from cinder blocks hurled into them by RPGs, or maybe by our own munitions, and then their dirt poor mothers who have already lost sons kneel in their blood and cry.
Of course all that assumes you are interested in going infantry or at least an MOS that will put you outside the wire.
Just know what you're getting into, and if you decide to go, you'll be giving a shit about your brothers out there, not people back home or some noble cause.

The only reason to ask this question here is to get talked out of it. Don't expect to hear too much sound advice, everything will be "The army is eeeeeevil"" and "You're just signing your life away." I'm not saying it is or isn't the right choice, because I don't know you at all, but don't look for your answers here.
Although abica gave some fairly sound advice (money and schooling is a nice added bonus though.)

how is killing people for money a right choice? unless your shinning boots you pretty much have a 90% chance of fireing a bullet at someone in there own country if you sign up for the army.
even if your not the one pulling the trigger...nomatter what you do while in service you are fueling this behavior and helping to make it possible.
now im not saying all of the individual acts are bad, but the fact remains everyone who serves is fueling the monster. The monster is pointing one direction and everyone who works for it will be helping complete its "goals".

For one signing up for the military does not equate to killing people. I'm not saying it isn't a possibility, but it's not the only option.
Two, the war is going to exist either way. If you're not doing anything to try and stop it (which pretty much goes for everyone), then what does it really matter if you sign up? If anything that's better. Less people that join the reserves need to go.
It's a well paid job, and if you are willing to do it, then by all means go for it.

the war only exists because people are willing to fight, the problem is the people fighting have no clue why, and the people in congress who decide what to do are even more clueless...not to mention all the little guys in the background manipulating everything and everybody
the military is designed to kill people, thats why they have guns and big bombs that go boom. of course if everyone gets on there hands and knee's and agrees to obey there new masters nobody will get hurt to badly...unless of course they get hit from "friendly" fire.
its a check for your soul and a small one for that, national guard is the only one that comes close to being pure

do you have any clue what the army is structured like? there is huge amounts of logistics jobs. not everyone in the army are "trigger pullers" there are supply, medic, chaplains, mechanics, intelligence, i could go on and on.
you realize that the national guard is a very large component of the war oversea right? im not condoning or supporting the war, but you are making amazingly uninformed arguments

well before i mentioned the national gaurd if you read everything i said i noted that not everyone was trigger pullers, rather than restate ill just let you reread
i always figuered nation guard was mostly dictated to the protection of this country, if not big whip i said "mostly" pure...see i always have my back doors

wrong, your not defending a country you are attacking another, theres a huge difference. thats why i said national guard/police is "mostly" cool because your here and now. not fighting someone elses war for god knows what reason.
when you can see the reason to kill someone then sure its ok, but you don't just run into someones house and start blazing guns.
