Pit Bulls
    #8403928 - 05/15/08 02:41 AM (3 months, 20 days ago)

I'm sure you've all heard about the Breed Specific Legislation against Pit bulls in many areas...

I never really put much thought into it because I guess I Was brainwashed or indoctrinated to think pit bulls were just crazy animals... I mean, I didn't want to see dogs outlawed because I'm a sane person, but I never really cared.. and it's tuff to say that, but I'm being honest here.

My brother picks up a pit bull off the street, a young ass pup and wants to move it in the house (me and my brother bought a house together) and I'm thinking "shit man, a crazy killer beast living here, no fuckin' way"
but reluctantly I agreed because my heart sank when I seen this little baby pup.

A few months passed since he first brought her in, and I'm not really seeing the fanaticism against pitbulls... I had a dalmation once when I was young that we were good to and treated like gold and it would growl at people and just be distant and shit... but this so called killer beast pit bull is the most cuddly bastard I've ever seen... I mean total fuckin' sweetheart.
It's a strong dog and I know gang members and morons fight 'em and shit, but I can honestly say, and I've been around quite a few different breeds of dogs, that pit bulls are without a question in my mind, the nicest, sweetest, loving dogs I've ever seen.

Anyone relate?

P.S. Here's the little Rascal

There are repeated instances where perfectly nice pitbulls that never attacked anyone before suddenly went ape shit on a child. I'm not sure how I feel about the situation, but those are the facts. Dogs have been bred by humans and frankly, they would never survive in the wild, some are genetically prone to disease/injury, and some are too aggressive. No matter how tame you think your dog is, it is still a wild animal.

I Understand what you're saying man. But there's been a lot of times where perfectly nice uncles rape their nieces, should we stop having uncles?
not tryna bust ya balls for your opinion mate, I used to think nothing but bad about 'em, but I just don't get it... I dunno, just throwing in my two cents.

Cheers man

I had a buddy once with a pit mix. I loved that dog, he was rowdy and rough, but i never once felt in danger to it. He was a very gentle creature at heart (to humans).

With that said, other animals brought out the devil in him. I don't know why, but we couldn't ever let him around other dogs for fear that he'd shred them.

Also my ex gf's little bro got his dog killed by a couple of pit bulls that infiltrated his back yard. And my uncle shot a pit bull dead while it was attacking (and subsequently killed) his neighbors dog.

Though i have never owned one, i have crossed paths with a number of them. I'm left with mixed feelings on the subject.

I have a blue pit and a Brindle. Biggest cuddle fucks in the world. The blue is named Kilo, and the brin is Talina.

My neighborhood is trying to ban them, but every time it's up for election everyone votes against it. I'm glad, but i can't even take my dogs for a walk because of how i get treated. I was walking down the side walk once with Kilo, and this lady was sitting on her porch. She insisted on calling my dog evil and not to come any where near her yard. When I continued walking past her house. She screamed and said "I'M CALLING THE POLICE".. I was at a loss for words, So i called her a cunt and walked on down the block.

20 mins later, a squad car pulls up. I'm pretty far away from my house. He gets out and automatically puts his hand on his gun. I'm like dude... He's not going to do anything to you. He's harmless. The cop still didn't trust me and stood like 20 feet away. I told the cop my story and he told me the woman said I was threatening her with my dog.. I called bullshit, the cop asked me if my dog was insured and i lied and told his yes. We talk a little longer about pit bulls and how they can be dangerous and the cop just let me go.

I get harassed all the time for having what everyone calls the most dangerous dog in the world... ::jerking motion:: they can suck me balls.

Pit bulls were bred for the purpose of fighting, I don't trust them as I've heard too many stories about the "nice" pitbull gnawing someones hand off.

Stupid analogy... doesn't apply at all.

I don't care if people keep dangerous pets, but when their dangerous pets harm or kill, then the owners of the pet should be held liable for whatever happens, as if they did it themselves with intent. If your dog is a dangerous breed and kills a person, then you go to prison for murder. A nice balance between freedom and responsibility.

Cocker Spaniels attack twice as many people each year as pit
pulls, chihuahuas are pound for pound the most vicious dog on
the planet, why is there no mention of this in the news?
your 'facts' are quite skewed and biased

ever heard of 'feral dogs', once domesticated but have reverted
back to the wild, seems they can survive, The alabam supreme
court has ruled after a few years of hearing evidence that no
dog is genetically predisposed to agression, not of domesticated
breeds anyway, these dogs the attack people, they're a product
of their upbringing, a reflection of their owners, why is it
that it wasnt until the last 20 years that these dogs are being
claimed as evil, why is it that in the early 20th century they
were the most popular family dog in the US without these
thousands of reports of bites...

in the 70's, the Doberman Pincer was touted as the same sort of
killer, people claimed their brains would swell and they'd go
nuts and kill their owners... just a bit of food for though

Ive only ever really been afraid of one dog. My friend used to have a rottweiler crossed with a pitbull. It was the size of a rottweiler but with the same kind of jaw as a pitbull, so it could crush your bones like glass if it wanted to. It was fairly well natured, i don't think it would attack you unless you posed a threat. But at the same time it was very stern and i wouldn't play around with it. I never felt comfortable around it because it was such powerful creature, imagine a pitbul the size of a rottweiler. If it attacked someone it wouldn't hurt them it would kill them.

The pit bull jaw is specially structured to allow it to exert a lot more force than other dogs. All dogs have powerful jaws. Pit bulls just take it to a new level.

Pit bulls are loving animals if raised properly. Anyone in this thread that has a bad thing to say about them has their head up there ass.

The same anecdotal arguments your making about pit bulls are the word for word ( change noun ) propaganda messages that have appeared in the drug war, or even as racist rhetoric against blacks.

Quote:

Pit bulls were bred for the purpose of fighting, I don't trust them as I've heard too many stories about the "nice" pit bull gnawing someones hand off.

Hay, haven't you heard about those niggers who were bread for slave ship, walk around shooting in children's windows? They don't know anything but physical work... OR the white women who smoke weed and screw them because there high? We HAVE to do something!

Quote:

Also my ex gf's little bro got his dog killed by a couple of pit bulls that infiltrated his back yard. And my uncle shot a pit bull dead while it was attacking (and subsequently killed) his neighbors dog.

All i have to say is my Uncles' neighbor's nephew's 3rd ex girlfriend's fatherinlaw's taxidermist got attacked physically by a shroomery member named mojo, he left a trail of blood all over the city that lead up to a preschool where little kids could have been hurt, MODS, ban his ass!

(not trying to be hostile homie, just make a point.)

Quote:

This brilliant statement pisses me off the most so i saved it for last:
Repeated instances? would you mind clarifying that statement with data of violet actions of normally raised domestic pit bulls versus the overall community? Please make sure that you Include types of violence (provoked or unprovoked.)

Sure they can be violent, i bet if i tackled you and started kicking you in the face you might want to fight. It has been scientifically proven that violence is not inherent in pit's, it is socialized behavior. i asked you for stats So i will give some of my own. I know i shouldn't assume that you or select people reading this are capable of a scored analysis of this debate so let me just ask you this. Should weed be illegal? No? why not? it's harmless you say? Ive heard of hundreds of people dying because they smoked weed. It ruins lives. Pot smokers are all lazy and worthless. No one who ever smoked pot ever did anything positive.

I don't understand your comments on genetic injury/illness, or how you qualify these ideas in the same sentence as "some being to aggressive." First of all aggressiveness is not related as strongly to genetics as it is associations. (see above source.) There is no quantifiable evidence that pit's are more aggressive than other domestics. Sure there more likely to have hip problems and allergies, just as black people are more likely to develop sickle cell anemia, or me to contract skin cancer.

I'm all for owner responsibility, But don't tell me my dog is a wild animal. If I bring a friend over and tell him to yell at her, she'll lay down and whimper. Define wild for me. Every dog Ive ever had responds to commands, is great with children, and is intelligent to the point they will stop fighting other dogs on my command. I'm sure if my dog does this it will not fit your definition of wild.

***

Perhaps use a little more thought in your arguments here. Your talking about our family members.

Is that right? Lets see a comparison of jaw power in a scientific study perhaps?

Or maybe your are an expert in K9's.. How many years have you spent breeding dogs? How many differnt breeds do you have lenghthy, first hand experiance with?

Should we really be listining to you?
