 Pot Factory Goes Up In Smoke [UK]

A CANNABIS factory caught fire and created a blaze which destroyed the roof of the house in West Drayton where it was hidden.
The incident just after 9am this morning (Wednesday) in East Road also caused serious damage to the roof of the house next door.
Firefighters from Hillingdon used four engines to tackle the blaze, which destroyed three-quarters of the roof, and had extinghuised it by 9.30am.
Police later found more than 200 cannabis plants growing in temperature controlled rows inside a room upstairs in the house.
Witnesses report seeing oriental people escaping from the house shortly after the fire started and one was apparently caught by neighbours and later arrested by police.
The couple next door to the factory, who did not want to be named, have been forced to contact Hillingdon Homes for a survey to see if their home is fit to continue living in.
The wife said: "It is lucky my husband was off work with a bad back because he was able to hear the smoke alarm and get our dogs out of the house quickly.
"We've been here four years and it is the only place which every felt like home. I will be gutted if we can't stay here anymore."
Her husband added: "I was at my computer when I could smell burning and thought it was from the Nestle factory nearby.
"I saw someone outside pointing at the roof and that's when the smoke alarm went off. I was running around the house trying to find out where the flames were.
"The damage to the roof is quite bad so it's a case of waiting and seeing before we know what will happen next.
"We had no idea what was going on in the house. I'd seen the people once or twice and they often had visitors very late, but since they hardly ever spoke we did not know them at all."
A second factory has also been raided in Dickens Avenue, Hillingdon, today and led to police discovering a large quantity of cannabis plants hidden in an upstairs room.
