The owner of a Bowersville home where officials said a large marijuana-growing operation was found after a shooting incident turned himself in to authorities on Monday evening and was charged.
Damon Gregory, 38, is charged with felony manufacture of marijuana, felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects.
Gregory was incarcerated at the Hart County Detention Center as of Tuesday afternoon awaiting a bond hearing, Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said. Law enforcement officials were waiting to interview Gregory in the presence of his attorney before determining if other charges will be filed, the sheriff said.
Gregory’s mother brought him to the Sheriff’s Office as of 8:30 p.m. Monday, the sheriff said.
The historic home owned by Gregory is very close to the Bowersville Post Office.
Deputies received a call at 12:30 a.m. Saturday and found Michael Garrow sitting on the side of the road, unable to drive because he had been shot. When questioned, he sent deputies to the home owned by Gregory and also mentioned there was marijuana there, Sheriff Mike Cleveland said.
Garrow was transported to Hart County Hospital, and his injuries were not life-threatening, the sheriff said.
After obtaining a search warrant for the home in relation to the shooting, deputies found an extensive marijuana-growing lab in one of the rooms.
Sheriff’s deputies said Garrow lived with Gregory until earlier this month, when the two had a fistfight and a falling out. Apparently the two resolved their differences and were hanging out Friday night, but something set them off again, the sheriff said.

"extensive marijuana-growing lab"
I hate how they call them labs.. they aren't labs, they are merely grow rooms, or hydroponic systems... People wouldn't be setting up sophisticated growing systems if it were legal! DUH!
I think they add the "lab" word to associate it with meth... not even close.

I can't decide which is worse. Extensive marijuana-growing lab, or Cannabis Factory. Either way the media loves to blow shit out of proportion.

misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects.
Unless they were needles or crack pipes, how could they prove the items were for cannabis and not tobacco?
