Vodka and Lucid Dreaming
    #8396374 - 05/13/08 11:42 AM (4 months, 28 days ago)

Hello!
First lemme say that i am grateful to have found a place like this where many people share the curiosity of lucid dreaming. I enjoyed all the threads I've read!

My curiosity started a little over a year ago after reading Castaneda's Journey to Ixtlan. After i read that book, i went to sleep telling myself i am going to go lucid and look at my hands. It wasn't until 5 months after i first went lucid, but from just saying that to myself made my dreams so much more vivid. I also remembered nearly every one!

In the past 8 months i have had 7 lucid dreams, 3 of which were in the past 2 months. Those 3 dreams had happened after consuming around 9 shots of vodka. (That gets me real drunk  ) i would stumble home, pass out for about 3-5 hours, and id always wake up confused and tired. I get up for a bit, piss, drink some water and hop back in bed still confused. Feeling like this makes me be able to drift in and out of sleep like its nothing. and i seem to wake up no later then 20 minutes after at a time from feeling dehydrated. This makes me more aware of going to sleep and after about 2 or 3 times of waking up it is easy peazy for me to go lucid!

My only problem is i dont really like getting that drunk too often. I have tried using alarm clocks to wake me up, but they have failed me : (

Interesting result... that contradicts most of the information that I've heard that says alcohol reduces REM sleep. Perhaps it's because you're constantly waking up out of sleep and then drifting back in that you're able to easily lucid dream, as the same technique works for setting your alarm clock for an hour early and then falling back asleep.
