 First Time Grow...

A friend and I recently received two syringes from a sponsor, B+ and Golden Teacher. With the two we are going to inoculate (no liquid culture, any extra work is too much work) four spawnbags of popcorn (or maybe two popcorn, two WBS, we haven't really decided). We are going to spawn the four bags to two separate outdoor plots of cow manure, vermiculite, straw and worm casings. The plots are going to be in a shaded area somewhat near a stream. The manure is going to be sourced from a local dairy farm.
I know this all seems quite ambitious for a first timer (read n00b) but we are going to be following many guides pretty much to the T. So I guess wish me luck, first pictures should be up in a week or two.

It's not too ambitious at all. Mushrooms really want to grow, so as long as you provide a good clean environment for them then you should be reaping a lovely harvest of shrooms before long. Read this thread, as it's got tons of damn good outdoor info.

Yeah, I have done my homework. I have read all of the outdoor logs I could find and have read a lot of other materials here. I got them shipped to my grow partner and she accidentally mixed up the spores, so I don't know which one has which strain, I guess i'll just have to wait and see.

Strain doesn't really matter. I would advise you to do an LC though, they're really really easy and they speed colonization by as much as 10 days - the time it would take for the spores to naturally germinate

Alright, I am doing an LC. That was one thing I didn't really look into much and I had several misconceptions.

Why always in such a hurry?
LCs are a good way to multiply knock up material, but are one of the best ways to fuck up as well.
Nothing against trying to do a LC, while at the same time, following your previously chosen way to cultivate, but LCs actually ain't really necessary when you do this whole thing for the first time.
Depending on in what climatic areas you live, outdoor patches can be really easy to do, though still be more "difficult", than regular indoor cultivation (at least when doing cakes).
Sure, compared to a healthy outdoor bed, even a small army of cakes can't compete in order to achieve the maximum yield, but it's a safe way to produce more spores for later experiments.
However, I don't to sound all too pessimistic. Just realistic

Alright, well I attempted a karo based LC tonight. I sterilized everything at least once, most surfaces twice, and I showered and cleaned myself up before hand. I decided to only make one LC so I just randomly chose a syringe. I inoculated the container with about 8ccs (I have 4ccs left in that syringe) of spores. The container is now in a warm dark area and if there is growth I will upload pics and discuss the container a bit. I guess only time will tell if it is going to work out. If the LC does end up working out, I am just going to inoculate the spawnbags with the single LC strain, and save the other syringe for later in the season (just in case).

8cc's??? Why so much? Good results can be achieved from 1/4 - 1cc... 8 is way overkill IMO

Somewhere I read something about someone using 10cc, they might have been talking about inoculating a new LC with LC though. Oh well, it should still work, right? I see some small wisps that I think are growth.

The problem with these amounts of solution/LC is that you're on good way to fuck up the moisture content of your jars or.
It's very hard to distribute the water evenly in the jar and not just shoot it directly to the bottom of it, where it then accumulates and becomes an invite for contams.
It often works. Just not as often as knock ups with less solution/LC.
The day you get your jars to colonize faster when using big amounts of LC etc. is not worth the waste of it and increased possibility of contams, in my opinion.

He knocked it up with 8cc's of Multispore solution...
Yes it could/should work, but IME they either kill themselves through metabolitic secretions as the spores germinate, or they simply never grow at all... This however could depend on LC size... if its 500-600ml's It might be ok.
The 10cc to an LC was probably LC to LC just like you said... that way it grows out way super fast
In My Experience... Not however stating this as fact.

Yeah, thanks for the advice, it is over 500ml though, and it does seem to be colonizing. I think i'm going to up the temperature a little as that seems to be slowing it right now.
