popbottle w/a fish tank pump?

The pop bottle terrarium in the MagicMushroomGrowersGuide that says to put the cake in there w/a paper towel under it; can i put an air pump from a fish tank in the top/side/anywhere so that i dont have to open it for air everyday? Will that possibly dry it out?
