The Urge to Destroy
    #8397453 - 05/13/08 04:12 PM (4 months, 23 days ago)

I get it. I think we all do; to destroy, break, smash, kill, maim, burn, shoot, cut, slash, pulverize, obliterate, murder; to be chaotic and creative at the same time. Peace is a bore. Look at how colorful and exciting the words are themselves! It is almost as if the feeling manifests itself in order to create a better reality by way of calculating the shortest/simplest of solutions. It is much easier to destroy the problem; it is indeed the most efficient of solutions. Destruction provides the quickest opportunity for change.

-- Vegetius

Suicide.

Some consider it a cop-out for quitters. But isn't that the most efficient of all, to destroy the origin of the problem rather than the problem itself.

are we, at our base the origin of the problem, or is it the tethers to our thoughts and emotions?

That's why I've been spending my time playing GTA IV, so I don't have to murder people in real life!

"It is almost as if the feeling manifests itself in order to create a better reality by way of calculating the shortest/simplest of solutions. It is much easier to destroy the problem; it is indeed the most efficient of solutions. Destruction provides the quickest opportunity for change."

This pattern doesn't have to continue with humans. We have gained the ability to look at our possible futures and CHANGE them! Why not choose prosperity and peace for all? Peace is not boring.

Edit: I think I've answered my own question in my Veggie thread. Killing is just too good.

Yeah, but then you've got another problem, you're dead, and this one ain't fixing itself anytime soon

On a more serious note, I strongly doubt the measure of efficiency you associate with this one. If you can't bear the train of thoughts which comes with problem solving then I suggest you don't listen to it telling you to kill yourself, and stop and take it chill instead. If your ankle is strained, don't cut it.

so then why does one have to commit suicide in order to destroy the origin of the problem? are there not other efficient ways to do so?

Learn to be at peace with the way things are. Never wish or hope for anything. Just exist.

Wow... This reminds me of my 3 year old son. He's not quite er... typical. He is really a very loving child, but he seems intent on destroying anything and everything he can. Sometimes, through my frustration, I see a kind of art behind it.
