Five men were indicted Monday for allegedly conspiring to buy and sell large quantities of marijuana and cocaine in South Jersey. The leader of the ring allegedly transported the drugs via a network of migrant farm labor camps, according to a release from the state attorney general's office.
The charges resulted from a cooperative investigation by the New Jersey State Police and the Pennsylvania State Police into alleged interstate smuggling of drugs that led to the seizure of 63 pounds of marijuana last year.
The investigation revealed that Joel G. Juarez, 40, also known as Enrique H. Penna, of Pilesgrove, allegedly ran a drug distribution ring based in Atlantic and Salem counties that transported illegal drugs via a network of migrant farm labor camps, according to the release.
Juarez; his alleged partner, Damian Constantino, 43, also known as Damian Garcia of Pilesgrove; and his son, Baltazar G. Constantino, 22, also of Pilesgrove, face charges of first-degree possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and other charges. The first-degree charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $300,000 upon conviction.
