like the "spirit molecule" book, that has many views in it, involves a bit of psychology/philosophy and isn't too dry.
recommend me some and if it sounds interesting enough i'll try to track it down.

The Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Narby
He has some great theories, one about UV light emitted by DNA being the source of hallucinations.
Here's an interview.

Did you know America ranks the lowest in education but the highest in drug use? It's nice to be number one, but we can fix that. All we need to do is start the war on education.

Timothy Leary has some awesome books, most memorable (it's been a few years since I've read any) are High Priest, The Psychedelic Experience...and I forget any others
Jeremy Narby I recommend too, both Cosmic Serpent and Intelligence in Nature are fascinating.
And Dale Pendell books are BADASS. Pharma-koepia(sp?), pharmako-gnosis, and one other I haven't read yet. Incredible books though. I gave my copies away (which ended up getting signed at burning man), so I think I'll get those next.

I am surprised no one mentioned PIHKAL and TIHKAL, by Alexander and Ann Shulgin. They are classics and also have a huge sections dedicated to the chemistry of psychedelics. They do a good job of not degenerating into New Age philosophies (although Ann might be a little annoying.)
I would recommend reading the first book PIHKAL first, as that has more of a story to it. TIHKAL is a good followup to PIHKAL but breaks down into essays which get kind of off-topic.

into the void by zoe 7
-------------------- First, train yourself to get suspicious every time you see simplicity. Any claim that the root of a problem is simple should be treated the same as a claim that the root of a problem is Bigfoot. Simplicity and Bigfoot are found in the real world with about the same frequency.
So reject binary thinking of "good vs. bad" or "us vs. them." Know problems cannot be solved with clever slogans and over-simplified step-by-step programs.
