i've been listening to rap for over 15 years and will make fun of anything i think sucks. most of it sucks nowadays.
i agree that freestyling is an art form, however its been too commercialized in the last 10 years or so.. after eminem got big every white kid in the burbs thought he could be an emcee.

Well he says its a freestyle. If all that is purely freestyle then he's pretty quick to throw rhymes together and that probably sounds pretty good with a beat. I agree with the making stuff rhyme part with a normal rap. Even if the word doesn't even rhyme, there's always a way to make it work.
What's that literary technique called where you rearrange a sentence structure to make a word fit?

ok, for the most part that rap was wack for a few reasons.
I am tired nowadays of people talking about shooting guns and killing people and robbing and all that bullshit in their raps when they wouldn't bust a cap gun. A true lyricist stays true to himself and doesn't try to imitate other rappers. Obviously, you are just a like alot of the wack so called 'rap artists' out there nowadays, rapping about shit you aint never seen or had no parts in. You are forgoing the curent trend we have nowadays of the emergence of a mass wack artists epidemic. you are contributing to why a majority of people feel that HIP HOP IS DEAD. I can tell you are strait up lyin about your being in battles and being undefeated and all that shit, because I freestyle to, have been in many ciphers, and write rhymes as well every now and then, and I know from expereince that freestylin and writing like that well get you slaps in the face metaphorically, and physically.
When I first started rhyming, as a novice, i would talk about blasting ak's and gats killing and all that shit I dont actually do and when I would try to do that shit in freestyle ciphers I would get the cold shoulder. I rexamined what i was doing and realized i was not staying true to myself and not being real with my lyrics. I redefined the way I rap and I've built up my rep and got alot of credit, faster that way.

wait hold up time out. You dont know me at all. I could be affiliated with all that shit. I could be a killer. I said i was not violent but hey i also say i dont grow shrooms. I actually grew up on the east side of baltimore city where this shit happened everyday. i have stabbed someon i have shot someone i never killed anyone and amongst other things. The rap was not suppose to be a life thing and how i get down. It was all based around a principle of wordplay. every thing written does not have to be of your life as it is. In that fact we would not have very many songs out their.
and i have been rapping for years. ever since i was 14 up until i was 19 all day all i did was freestyle. the punchline thing is all i have. I'm no good at writing i understand this, tis is why i don't. Also rap was really never my thing, i could never get into it enough to follow through. I don't know how involved you and others are with the whole freestyle thing but all i know is that their is not one person i have met that would point blank call me wack. But everyone has their opinion. I'm pretty sure their are people who think Cassidy and Lil Wayne are wack but........negative.
i can sit here all day and come up with punchlines that just make people like got damn. But i lack the fundamentals and skills to actually put it in the form of a song.

Hip Hop is alive and well and always will be. I always feel that the people who talk smack about hip hop (ie; its all guns, drugs, hoes, etc.) are the people who think real hip-hop is the BS they see on MTV & BET these days, which it is not at all. (I wouldn't even call that stuff hip-hop, more like pop-rap) Those are just kids groomed to look and sound a certain way by record executives to make quick cash. (seems to be working, eh?)
The underground is where all the good MCs are, but if you never look past what TV & the radio feeds you, unfortunately you'll never hear any good hip-hop these days. Makes you remininsce back to the good 'ol early '90's when almost every video you'd see on Rap City or Yo MTV Raps or hear on the radio was some classic material with great lyrics. There's still a ton of great hip-hop out there, you just won't see it on TV or hear it on the radio.
