So basically what I gather from this thread is that the HappyHippies expected some more drama and special effects with a unexpected twist at the end? Well I guess youll have to wait for part 2 because weve known for 2000 years before the movie how it was going to end...

Christ wasn't a real person, this was just another tool used to control the minds of the masses. After all in this day of alternative worship and religion what better way to reinforce its beliefs than make a controversial movie about Christs demise.

Not to mention a extremely graphic and traumatic movie that would piss anyone off who had even questionable Christian faith.

I don't know man, they worship an effigy of Christ brutally nailed to the cross, day in day out. Any Christian walking into that movie should have known what to expect.

Naw, the Titanic threw in a love story and survivors. I didn't see that shit coming.

Passion of the Christ was more fucking boring than the Bible itself, which at least has one admirable quality in the quality of SOME of the writing.

Can't say the same for Mel's lovechild. Not even 6mgs of Alprazolam would save that shit.

Actually... no one debates this anymore. Not even most atheists. We know he was a real person, we have independent records from the Jews and Romans concerning him.

Source? I was under the impression that there were no Roman records.

And I never saw this movie. I refused to spend money on it, and I guess now I'm refusing to waste bandwidth downloading it.

This post has turned sour. It's called a joke people. Get a grasp on sarcasm. I was trying to be funny, but have apparently failed...
And now apparently it has turned into a debate about the existence of Jesus? Grow a sense of humor and stop trying to look for an argument people!! This is a good example of why peace is so unattainable in today's society...

When I was younger I used to go to a youth group occasionly, and then one time they brought in the Passion of Christ, so we could all watch it. And we watched it, several several people were balling crying insanely. After it was over the youth pastor started preaching, and then he actually was yelling saying, "CHrist is real! Hell is a real place! You need to get yourself right with God!He died for YOU!! YOU! He died for YOU"

I personally don't see it as too compelling. So what if they say he died brutually, he sure didnt die for me.

I initially felt that I should watch "Passion of the Christ" in order to have an opinion on it, then I thought nah, life's too short.
