I swore I wouldn't live to be 40. Since tomorrow is my birthday my family decided to give me one last shot to go out in a blaze (or splat) of glory before I turned. Well...I didn't die, but I did jump out of a perfectly good ariplane from 12,500 feet! Theres just something inherently wrong about leaping into space when the airplane you are riding in is gonna be on the ground safely 10 minutes later! When they slid open the door and I watched those first few people drop into the abyss I thought "Man, this is one dum-ass sport!!" 
But I did it, and it was a fucking blast! I'd go again anytime someone offered.
Here I am, suited up and ready to go...
Getting instructions from my instructor...
This was my camera girl. The DVD video is awesome, well worth the extra money my family spent!
Heres my plane...
The worst part was the 20 minute flight up. Too much time to contemplate what you're about to do as the Earth just gets smaller and smaller!

Too late to turn back now, although it looks like my right foot really didn't want to admit it!
OK...now I'm having some fun!
I don't remember what I was yelling, but it was pointless...theres nothing to hear when your dropping through space at 120MPH except for the wind!
And there goes the chute. Guess I'll live after all.
Coming in for a landing...

That was a fucking blast! Everyone should try it at least once in your life. And it looks like I'll turn 40 after all.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the whole thing was a surprise from my family. They even blindfolded me to drive me out there. And then they took me to the Indoor Sky-diving wind tunnel first and made me think thats all I was gonna do. Not until that was over did they spring it on me that I'd be jumping out of a plane an hour later!

I want to go skydiving really bad. I think I might surprise my boyfriend with a dive on his next birthday.

Yea it's fun shit. Makes me wanna jump over a foreign country with an m4 for a grand invasion, lol.
Went to the place on a wet and cold saturday... it was around 35F on the ground... probably below freezing up in the air. Fun shit.

I'm extremely jealous! My Aunt used to go skydiving a lot but she decided she was done when one of her friends got tangled up and didn't open their chute in time...but hey, we can die any moment, might as well LIVE.
Anyway, congrats on a successful jump, and happy birthday.

I remember sitting at a lake side Marina / Pizza parlor about 8 years ago and listening to the Coast Guard's radio from their boat. It was a dispatcher calling EMS units to respond to the scene where a skydiver plowed into the ground from a 12,000 ft jump when her parachute didn't deploy. We sat there for 20 minutes listening to that radio of them talking about her condition and what/ not. She was still conscious with multiple fractures, but in overall surprisingly good condition.
Ever since that day, I've wanted to try it out.

i jumped last summer. it was hella expensive, but worth every penny. i will be going again for sure.

Actually, here is the funniest picture taken of me all day. Possibly one of the best expressions ever captured on my face. It was the first one the camera girl took of me when I was back on the ground.

Another sidenote to my story. This weekend they are having thier annual "100+ Way" event at Perris Skydiving. This is where they do formations of 100 or more skydivers at a time. The place was crawling with expert skydivers and we got to see three "100+ Way" jumps while we were there yesterday. Its pretty fucking immpressive to watch when there are over 100 skydivers falling through the air directly over you head! What surprised me the most is that you can actually hear the group freefalling through the air! Then the formation breaks up and canopys start popping. Its pretty amazing!
Here is a video from last years 100-way event. Haven't seen any new ones pop up on Youtube from this weekend yet.
